A Surrealist Painting

Surreliast painting signed HW Beesley and dated 1953. Oil on masonite. Nothing can be found on this artist, and yet this painting clearly references the works of Henry Moore (standing figures) and Ben Nicholson (abstract composition in top right section), at the time when these artists had recently shot to fame. The hand is assured and the colour palette vibrant.
