Paris-based, Chilean artist Jorge Estevez defines himself as a decorative painter. Nature is the main influence in his work, and he favours large formats (tall panels like this triptych, murals or oversized canvases) to represent flowers, trees, lifesize horses, woods, etc.
In this particular work, Jose has drawn inspiration from the delicate flowers that surround the nymphs in Botticelli's Primavera. His own interpretation of the Quattrocento's flora takes on a poetic and slightly mysterious quality as the pale flowers and fine sprigs seem to emerge from the highly textured darkness.
